The Word “Soul” In The Bible (In Hebrew “Nephesh”, In Greek “Psuche”) Means Primarily Life And All Creatures That Possess That Life Are Shown To Be Subject To Death.

  1. “On that day Joshua took Makkedah, and struck it and its king with the edge of the sword. He utterly destroyed them – all the people [souls] who were in it” (Joshua 10:28).

  2. “Then you scare me with dreams and terrify me with visions, so that my soul [self, life] choses strangling and death rather than my body” (Job 7:14-15).

  3. “His [man’s] flesh wastes away from sight, and his bones stick out which once were not seen. Yes, his soul draws near the pit, and his life to the executioners” (Job 33:21-22).

  4. “Do not withhold correction from a child. For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die. You shall beat him with a rod, and deliver his soul [life] from hell [grave, death]” (Proverbs 23: 13-14).
